How to install Flash player on Android 4.2.2

Flash is officially not supported by Android and Adobe has stopped supporting Android devices too. Following steps are pretty simple and perfect to make your android devices supporting flash contents.

Please note: Try the following at your own risk, though these are not something which will blow your device, however, we do not take any responsibility. As the below information is based on experience and for information sharing purposes.

Step1: Flash is not available on Google Play anymore, so we have to download it from adobe archive site. Visit: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html and search for: "Flash Player for Android 4.0 archives"

Now download Flash player 11.1 for Android 4.0 (any version which is latest) on your pc.

Step2: Copy or transfer .apk file (Adobe_Flash_Player_11.1.apk) on your android device.

Step3: In your android device go to  - Security - Unknown Sources - and enable "Allow installations of apps from sources other than the Play Store"

Step4: Now install flash or open this downloaded .apk file via any Explorer. If you don't have any explorer in your android device, download one from Google play like: Explorer, file explorer etc.

After installing flash, go to Google play and install "Boat browser"

Step5: Open Boat browser - go to "Settings"  - "Page content settings" and set "Enable flash/plug-ins" to "Always on"

Close and reopen Boat browser and enjoy flash on your android device.

P.S: You can also try these on different browsers like firefox and Dolphin.

  1. Hi Jakson,

Thanks for your post. Unfortunately, chrome does not support flash on Android since its a google product. They've stopped supporting adobe flash on android. Thus, we have to use other browsers if we want see flash content on android.

  3. Thank you. I just got a Nexus 7 and my wife got a Kindle Fire. We subscribed to Amazon Prime and the video didn't work on mine. :( Your directions worked perfectly. BTW, I used Dropbox to get the files from my computer to my Nexus. Thanks again!

  13. I'm so confused, not much of a techie here. But Im determined because I want to be able to listen to my Tiger baseball games on my LG G2 - missed 5 spring training games already! I've been to so many different sites and yours seems to be the easiest to understand but I'm having difficulty trying to figure out which version of the archive flash to download. It says the one for Android is 11.1.115.81, but then dozens more follow that one. Also I do have the file manager on my phone, do I still need to download that file on my PC and transfer? Thanks for any help!

  15. The reason for going back was because I noticed while playing youtube videos on the newer version there would be loads of crackling noises, but using the older version plays without any hitches.

  16. Hey. Thanks for the advice. I managed to install flash version 11.1 but I need to try and obtain at least version 11.3. The file name ends with .swc and my s3 cannot open the file no matter how much I try. The .apk file works fine but not the .swc file. Why is that? How can I fix that?
